Calvin Hill was so big and had so much talent that he spent his first two weeks in camp as a rookie in '69 working at three positions - tight end, linebacker and running back. But when he returned from playing in the College All-Star Game at Chicago, Tom Landry decided to leave him at running back and let him go. Calvin went, all right. That first year he was a bigger story than O.J. Simpson, the NFL's No. 1 draft choice at Buffalo. But a foot injury slowed him later in the season. Calvin didn't quite gain 1,000 yards and we fell short of the Super Bowl, but both of those goals were accomplished later. When Calvin left Dallas after six seasons, he reanked second only to Don Perkins in career yardage.
